IN HONOR OF SARAH

Sarah Vande Berg picked up her first racquet at the age of six when she attended a summer tennis clinic at Zephyr Park and immediately showed a strong interest and ability. Her father, Todd Vande Berg, was, and still remains an avid tennis player so tennis was a way of life for the Vande berg family. With her Family’s support and her natural athletic talent, Sarah journeyed from novice to seasoned competitor in high school, district championships, state-wide competitions, and USTA tournaments. Throughout all 4 years at Zephyrhills High School, Sarah was the team Captain and was honored as an All-Sunshine Athletic pick.

Sarah’s accomplishments earned her a tennis scholarship to the University of South Carolina Upstate. Sarah chose to be a communications major which suited her outgoing personality. She was a team player on and off the court, often bringing her international teammates home with her for the holidays.

Tragically on October 11th, 2015, Sarah along with three other USC Upstate athletes was killed in a single-vehicle accident. She was just 21 years old and only a few months away from graduating.

Sarah’s passion for tennis and helping others inspired the development of the Sarah Vande Berg Tennis and Wellness Center. The only tennis center of its kind, SVB carries on Sarah’s legacy of helping young players by providing lessons, leagues, socials, tournaments, and more.

Hello-

Having been involved in the ultra-competitive sports world ourselves for years now, we understand and appreciate the details. It is the minutia that helps create champions.  Our staff of world-class coaches also understands this and knows what is needed to build on the foundation of success.

We also know how important it is to take care of the whole person.  Not just the practice, but the recovery and mental aspects are equally crucial.  We have crafted a support system to cater to the whole athlete and promote a healthy lifestyle that will set our student-athletes up for success in sports and in life.

Our mission is to foster excellence and cultivate a safe and inclusive community where every guest is offered a unique experience and the ability to develop their full potential in sports training and education while promoting a healthy lifestyle.
